He also worked at a service station owned and operated by his father George N Davies Sr. In 1967 he married Joan M. Parker. Shortly thereafter they moved to Bozeman where George took a meat cutters apprenticeship working for the local Safeway, Buttreys, Heebs and Restevedt’s Meats. While working as a butcher George put himself through college at Montana State University. In 1974 he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business and Accounting. Shortly after graduation George started his own construction business. From the mid 70’s through 2013 he operated a successful building business throughout southwest Montana. He built many homes from plans but he also had the ability to design, engineer and build homes from the blueprint in his mind. He was a man who could do anything and everything. Excavation, plumbing, framing, concrete, roofing or finish work, George was a true carpenter. He took immense pride in his craftsmanship and his efforts can be seen throughout the Gallatin Valley and other parts of Montana. Along with running a busy construction business George and Joan raised three boys. Michael, Ryan and Mitchell. George enjoyed gardening. At one point he had two gardens going. George built a greenhouse and installed a hydroponic system. This allowed him to extend the growing season. His efforts produced outstanding garden produce. George also loved cooking and making things like sauerkraut, sausage, jerky, bread, jelly, etc. George was a man with many interests. An outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed collecting artifacts left behind by the native inhabitants of this land. He was also a car collector. George took great pleasure in working on automobiles from the early 1900’s. George is survived by his Mother Vi Dean, his brothers Dennis and Art Davies. Also surviving are his wife Joan, sons Michael, Ryan and Mitch, daughters-in law Jeannine, Tiffany Davies and Alicia Rodgers, grandsons Erik Davies, Brandon Dell and granddaughters Katie Pavelka and Laura Elizabeth Davies.
