Eleanor LaMiaux was born December 11, 1922, in Ruby, Montana. She passed away February 25, 2011, at Deaconess Hospital, Bozeman, Montana, after a heroic battle with cancer. Eleanor was a third generation Montanan. She was the eldest child of Ethel and Lomer Bock and the great granddaughter of Jon Daniel Bock, an early pioneer rancher in the Ruby Valley. Eleanor attended school in Laurin and Sheridan. Eleanor married young, to Albert Kender, moved to Indiana, then moving back to her beloved Montana in the early 1940's. She later met and married Lee LaMiaux in Montana, in 1959. Lee and Eleanor were transferred to Colorado for several years until Lee's retirement when they moved back to Montana. Eleanor remained in their family home in Gallatin Gateway until her recent illness. Eleanor loved large family gatherings at her home. She had a lifelong love and passion for her dogs. She enjoyed horses, picnics, crocheting, gardening and painting. She was a marvelous cook and a visit to her home was incomplete without wonderful food being served mixed with lively conversation. Eleanor loved to travel in their motor home with husband Lee and later with her best friend Karleen Kraft. Eleanor is survived by her children, Steven Kender, Jerry LaMiaux, John LaMiaux, Sandy Erskine, Ruth Hargrove, Debbie LaMiaux and Bob LaMiaux and their families, 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Eva St. Clair of Helena, brother Dr. Ernie Bock of Yuba City, California, brother Eugene Bock of Casper Wyoming, brother Emerson Bock of California and their families, and a vast number of cousins and their families scattered around the country, but mostly in the west. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Lee LaMiaux, a two year old son Bruce Kender and brother Elmer Bock.
