Eileen Ojala

October 26, 1922 — November 9, 2011

Eileen F. Ojala passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Bozeman, MT. She was surrounded by loving family until the end. Eileen was born in Tower, Minnesota on October 26, 1922 to parents Gust and Helga Malander. Eileen was very proud to have graduated from St. Luke#8217;s School of Nursing in Duluth, Minnesota. She had an exciting and varied career as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a staff nurse, nursing supervisor, blood bank supervisor, Doctor#8217;s Office nurse and finally a school nurse. Eileen loved being a nurse, she said there was never a day that she didn#8217;t want to be a nurse. Eileen married Frederick C. Ojala on September 5, 1943 in Duluth, Minnesota. Fred barely made the wedding because the US Army, in which he was serving, did not want to give him a leave. Fred and Eileen had 5 children. Eileen said this was one of her greatest accomplishments. Eileen was a wonderful, caring mother with a great wit and sense of humor. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. Eileen moved to Bozeman to live in Birchwood at Aspen Pointe in 2006. She looked at this final move as a great adventure in the Wild West. She loved long drives in the mountains and was amazed at the beautiful change of seasons. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Gust and Helga Malander and her husband of over 50 years, Fred Ojala. Eileen is survived by; her children Rick (Nancy) Ojala of Bozeman, MT, David (Barbara) Ojala of Kingwood, TX, Elizabeth Ojala-Hipsher of Hilo, HI, Mary Ojala of St. Paul, MN and Margaret (Dale) Ojala-Short of Excelsior, MN; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service to celebrate Eileen#8217;s life will be held at a later date in Minnesota. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Senior Living Endowment, c/o Bozeman Deaconess Foundation, 931 Highland Blvd., Ste 3200, Bozeman, MT 59715.
