Dwight Carter Lee

February 16, 1955 — February 25, 2012

This country how it calls to me It’s voice how it rings in my ear And when the light finally falls on me It’s alright if it falls on me here-Dave Stamey(Sweet Grass County Line) Dwight Carter Lee (57) died February 25, 2012 on his home land, after fighting his third battle with cancer. He was born February 16, 1955 in Bozeman, Montana to Joe and Betty Lee. One of Dwight’s truest prides was growing up on the Lee family ranch north of Belgrade. One of his richest joys was returning to that love after a prestigious 21 year career in the United States Air Force, retiring in 2000 as a Lt Colonel. Dwight was a true Montana native, attending first through twelfth grade in the Belgrade School District, meeting his life-time love Mary (Morris) in high school. The two married in 1975. During Dwight’s military career, the family traveled the world living amongst many cultures, an experience they and their children will always cherish. Dwight was a Christian, artist, teacher, airman, horseman and working cowboy, who lived each day to the fullest, always willing to lend a hand. He was a true friend to all who were lucky to know him. Dwight is survived by his wife, Mary, parents, Joe and Betty Lee of Manhattan. Parent in-laws, John and Persis Morris of Bremerton, WA. Son, Jeff Lee of Tacoma, WA. Daughter, Jennifer (Lee) Dunstan, son-in-law, Ian Dunstan, and the joy of his life, two grandsons, Carter and Cooper. Two sisters Sheri (Jeff) Romer of Texas, Judy (Larry) Neiminen of Livingston, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and many dear friends and neighbors. Sincere thanks to all who came along side us in this difficult journey with love, food and an ever present willingness to lend a hand. Special thanks to Journey church, Hospice of Southwest Montana, especially Edye; Bozeman Deaconess Cancer Center and Ted Preiss, physician. Donations may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma society: (www.teamintraining.org/donate) search for Sheila Nielsen-Preiss who is running the marathon in Dwight’s honor or mail to P.O.
