Dorothea Elisabeth Jude

Dorothea Elisabeth (Lattorff) Sterner Jude, 85; of Belgrade, MT; passed away on November 19, 2023, while bravely battling Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS. Born on April 25,1938, in Magdeburg, Germany daughter of Eberhard and Elisabeth (Müller) Lattorff. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Gunter Müller; and former husband Leon Sterner of Pennsylvania and Florida, and late husband, William Jude of Minnesota, Montana, and Florida. Survived by loving sons Steven Sterner (Elizabeth) of Florida; Kenneth Sterner of Montana, and loving daughter, Cheryl Wardle (William) of Pennsylvania. Survived by niece Gudrun Siebert (Rolf) and their daughters, Kathrin Siebert-Stanić (Sasa) and Kerstin Schultze (Robert) and their children. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving mother and beloved friend to all who knew her. Dorothea attended the Sorbonne Universitè in Paris, France; University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England, and University of Nürnberg in Nürnberg, Germany, where she studied International Business and Foreign Languages and become fluent in German, Russian, English, French, and Latin. She later immigrated to the United States in 1959, when she married and began to raise a family. She taught her children to live life with fierce determination, instilling in them the confidence necessary to pursue life and achieve success with humility and grace. Dorothea held various business positions as an accountant and lighting manufactures rep throughout the state of Florida. Her most recent position was the owner of The Big Horn Boutique in Big Sky, Montana. An avid hiker and skier in Big Sky and an active member of the German American Club of Cape Coral, Florida; Big Sky Chamber of Commerce; and Gallatin Canyon Women’s Club. A discerning woman of exquisite taste, she valued honesty, authenticity, and loyalty. To her sons she leaves her determination, integrity, wit, and wisdom and to her daughter she leaves her kindness, compassion, loyalty, and quest for knowledge. Dorothea will be desperately missed by all those that she has left behind. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed. Dorothea’s remains will be scattered near one of her favorite hiking trails in a private setting to be held at a later date in the Spring of 2024. Condolences may be sent to 1450 E.
