Dallas Raymond Thiesen

July 1, 1927 — January 8, 2010

Dallas Raymond Thiesen, 82, of Bozeman, passed away on January 8 due to pneumonia and Parkinson#8217;s disease. Dallas was born on the family farm near Lake Williams North Dakota on July 1, 1927 to Jacob and Elizabeth Thiesen. His brothers, Lyle and Merland preceded him and he is survived by his brother Don of Bozeman and sisters Virginia of Salem, Oregon and Beatrice of Bothell, Washington. He grew up near Carrington, ND farming with his father and later worked for various implement dealerships servicing equipment in the fields. Later he was a mechanic and service manager for the Ford dealership. Dallas married Lillian Braun Thiesen in 1960 and they had two boys, Lyndel and Rodney. In 1971, they moved to Bozeman to partner in a business with his brother Don, and opened Courtesy Auto Body. Dallas was forced to retire in 1987 due to Parkinson#8217;s disease. He enjoyed league bowling for 23 years with his wife, Lillian. They were given the Local ABC Hall of Fame Award for the most years at the same bowling alley, same league partners, the Sanderson#8217;s, and same league. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, watching old westerns and refinishing old antique furniture. Dallas is survived by his wife, Lillian, son, Lyndel (Wendy) and grandsons; Max, of Bozeman, Jacob, Garrett, Emmett of Kalispell and son, Rod (Amy) and granddaughters Claire, and Elise of Elko, Nevada. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 12, 2010 at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Bozeman. Interment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to a charity of ones choice.
