Dale Richard Stelter

February 4, 1947 — April 17, 2008

Dale Richard Stelter, 61 of West Yellowstone, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on April 17, 2008. He was born in Sparta, Wisconsin, to William and Marvel (Hoffert) Stelter on February 4, 1947. Dad attended high school in Janesville, Wisconsin. He started work in the cheese factory while apprenticing for his cheese makers license. He met the love of his life Mary Luedtke in 1966. They were united in Marriage on February 18, 1967 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; to that union they raised two girls. In May of 1970 they moved their family to West Yellowstone where he remained until his death. He was a man with many talents and had a great love for life and his family. He enjoyed teaching all his grandchildren his love for cooking and paddle boating on Hebgen Lake. In the early years he worked at logging in the summer and guided snowmobiles in the winter. Eventually he turned his hand to carpentry and cooking. In 1999 Dale and Mary opened the doors of the D M Caf to the public; here dad and mom worked side by side doing what they loved. He was well known for his homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade egg noodles! Dad was a man with a great sense of humor, he loved joking with family, friends and his four legged friend Sox the cat. Dale is survived by his wife Mary of 41 years; daughters and sons-in#8211;law. Marlo and Tom Stanton of Jordan, MT, Erica and Steve Allenmendinger of Idaho Falls, ID; grandchildren Shawn (Skyler Cozzens) Stanton of Jordan, MT, Ashley (Kevin Katz) Stanton of West Yellowstone, MT and Michelle Stanton of Jordan, MT. Keagan and Kameron Allemdinger of Idaho Falls, ID.; sisters Violet Revels and Ann Wheeler ; brothers Eugene, Laverne, Jim, Don and Bruce Stelter and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 14 brothers and sisters. In lieu flowers memorials may be made to Dale and Mary Stelter Fund at First Security Bank or Yellowstone Basin Bank in West Yellowstone, MT to offset Medical and Funeral Cost A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Community Presbyterian Church in West Yellowstone.
