Charles Story

Story Charles B. #8220;Chuck#8221; Story, 83, died October 26, 2007, in Bozeman, MT. Born in Sheridan, Wyoming, on February 20, 1924, the son of Charles Henry and Blanche Emily Story. Chuck attended the Sheridan schools, graduating from high school in 1942. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps after graduation, and ending his three-year military duty ith 37 long-range weather missions in a B-24, over Japan and the western Pacific, he was honorably discharged on February 28, 1946. That year he married Wauna Takach of Sheridan. They raised three children, Jim, Patricia and Bill Story. Chuck was the grandson of Charles Peletiah Story who was a noted pioneer of Sheridan, WY. #8220;C.P.#8221; Story was twice elected mayor of Sheridan, a newspaper publisher, a two-term Wyoming legislator, the town of Story just south of Sheridan, was named in his honor. Chuck was employed for nine years as a lineman and line foreman for Montana Dakota Utilities Company in Sheridan, Wyoming. In 1956 he began a career with the Civil Aeronautics Authority (later the Federal Aviation Administration) as an electronics technician in Alaska, afterward transferring to Wyoming and Montana. In 1963 he became Sector Manager of the Helena, MT. Airways Facilities Sector, became Assistant Manager of the Great Falls Sector in 1972 and in 1973 was promoted to manager of the Pierre, S Dakota Sector. He married Marjorie Lane of Helena in 1974. In 1979 he and Aloma Huntsman Duckworth were married. Chuck retired as FAA Sector Field Office Chief at Gallatin Field, Bozeman, Montana, in 1983. He declared more than once that he would die a rich man, given the bounty of having lived during the best of times, having fine children and a tolerant and caring wife. Charles is survived by his wife, Aloma, sons; Jim (Marleen) Story, Bill (Gloria) Story, daughter Patricia (Bob) Pressler, sister; Adeline (Fred) Ellison and Marguerite (Orr) Garber, and his extended family including 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Cremation has taken place and to honor his request, there will be no memorial services. Memorials may e made in his honor to the Deaconess Hospice, 915 Highland Blvd. Bozeman MT. 59715
