Bob Crowley

July 12, 1916 — March 16, 2009

Robert Bob Crowley, 92, of Manhattan passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009. Bob was born on July 12, 1916 in Townsend, Montana, the son of Michael Stella Crowley, and grandson of James Crowley Sr. of Logan, Montana. He attended Rosary Catholic Grade School and Manhattan High School, graduating in 1934. In 1932, he had been on the All-State Basketball team. He married his high school sweetheart, Eileen Sinton, in 1971. Bob worked as a rancher on the Madison until 1977, when he retired to Manhattan. He was a proud life member of the Elks B.P.O.E. and will always be remembered as a fun-loving, bowling champion, cattle driving, trout fishing, kind-hearted man. After the fire at the Logan Catholic Church, Bob ensured that the 500 lb. church tower bell found its new home at the Headwaters Heritage Museum in Three Forks. (Historical information about the Crowley family can be found in Headwaters Heritage History book on pages 191 - 197.) Memorials in Bob's name may be made to The Holy Family Catholic Church, P.O. Box 99, Three Forks, Montana 59752. Survivors include his great nieces and nephews, from California to Tokyo, Japan. A Rosary Service will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 300 Highland Blvd, Bozeman, Montana 59715. Visitation will follow until 8:00 pm at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at The Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 East Birch, Three Forks, Montana, with interment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman, Montana. An open house will be held after interment in honor of Bob at his home at 716 Gallatin Ave, Manhattan, Montana. All who knew Bob are welcome!
