Ann Depuy

January 1, 1927 — August 23, 2009

Ann Jackson DePuy, 82, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009. She was born in Utica, New York on January 1, 1927, the daughter of John and Edith Jackson. Ann was a loving and thoughtful wife, mother, and grandmother who valued having fun. Her passions included reading, traveling, and history. She was an active woman who skied, played tennis and hiked. She adored her home and the wildlife around it, as well as her pets, garden and her little green tractor. She was also a big city gal who appreciated, among other things, theater, symphony and art. Ann graduated from New Canaan High School in New Canaan, Connecticut where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She attended the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City and worked for TWA, Coca-Cola and Parent#8217;s Magazine before marrying Emerson DePuy on June 19, 1948. Ann and Emerson lived many places because of Emerson#8217;s work with PDM, a heavy construction company that built the St. Louis arch. They lived in Des Moines, Dallas, Chicago, Spain, Pittsburgh and Menlo Park, California before retiring to Bozeman in 1988. Ann enjoyed working with others and was a volunteer at Menlo-Atherton High School, Filoli Gardens, The Stanford Museum, Stanford Hospital, The Stanford International Student Center, and The Museum of the Rockies. She and Emerson were veteran world travelers, who delighted in their shared adventures. Ann was a classy lady who will be remembered for her spunk and concern for others, especially the little guy. Ann is survived by her husband, Emerson and her children, Debbie DePuy, Los Angeles, CA and David DePuy (Judy), Los Altos, CA, as well as her grandchildren, Jesse Giunta, Woodland Hills, CA, Jennifer DePuy, Los Altos, CA and Cliff DePuy, Los Altos, CA. At Ann#8217;s request no services will be held. Memorial donations can be made to The Nature Conservancy, 520 E. Babcock Street, Bozeman, MT 59715 or to a charity of one#8217;s choosing.
