Alma Hunziker

July 18, 1934 — September 1, 2009

Alma (Berndroth) Hunziker of Bozeman, Montana, formerly of Santa Clarita, California, passed away from lung cancer on Sunday, August 30, 2009. She was born in Michigan, a daughter to German immigrants Gus and Alma Berndroth, who arrived in America in 1929. She was the eldest (by six minutes) of identical twin sisters. Alma worked at General Motors, where she met her future husband, Les, in 1952; they married in 1953, starting a union that has lasted 56 years. Together, they had two sons, Randy and John. She raised her two boys through their teenage years, and then pursued her career resulting as a Director of Human Resources for Unysis Computer Corporation. She retired in 1990 after 15 years of service. She was active in the Calvary Lutheran Church in California and Shining Mountains Lutheran Church in Bozeman. She enjoyed knitting, fishing, golfing, and Wiley Creek Book Club. She was a devoted wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, Les; sons, Randy (Melinda) of Santa Clarita, CA and John (Jill) of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren, Jared and Sarah; and great-grandson, Logan. She is also survived by her loving dog, Andy. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Alma Berndroth, and her twin sister, Hilda Seymour. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Battered Women#8217;s Network, P.O. Box 752, Bozeman, MT 59715. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Shining Mountains Lutheran Church.
