Adelheid Marie Nentwich Patterson 'Omie'

September 8, 1919 — November 16, 2012

Adelheid Marie Nentwich Patterson “Omie” Omie passed away November 16, 2012 at her home in Bozeman. Her last days were filled with loving care from her daughters Michaele and Sandy, and a wonderful group of hospice people. We wish to thank them for their loving care. Omie was born in Oppln Germany. (Now a part of Poland.) She lived a beautiful childhood with her parents Waldimar and Klara (Schimansky) Nentwich, along with her 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Omie loved running and playing in the woods that surrounded their family home. She loved the wildlife and the flowers and anything to do with nature. She loved working with children and helping in the local kindergarten. Things changed with the war. The challenges and hardships were many. Omie had to leave home and move to Berlin to find work. Her interest in photography along with being a beautiful person both inside and out led her to a career as a well known fashion model. It was then that she met the love of her life, Raymond Patterson, an American Soldier, during his tour of duty. When his tour was up and he had to return to the United States, he promised to send for her. This process took about 4 years and finally after a 2 month stay on Ellis Island, and a flight from New York to Los Angeles, they were reunited. They were married in Nevada and made their home in Pasadena Calif. for many years. In 1951 they were able to send for Omie's daughter, Rosemarie Hannelore (Larry). Ray loved and raised her as his own. They then added to their family 4 more children: Sandra Rae (Mike) Ronald, Michaele Debra (Brad) Lory Marlinda (Greg). They moved to the beach area in 1992. At this time she worked very hard to become an American citizen. This was a very proud time in her life. They then moved to Montana to be close to family. Omie had another son, Michael, born in Germany. She was forced to leave him in a catholic foundling home with the sisters, but when she tried to locate him, the home had been burned to the ground and all the children were placed with foster parents and no records were found. After many years and many attempts the Red Cross did finally locate him. Omie was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a great seamstress and made most of her children's clothing. She loved gardening, cooking and knitting. None of her family including her 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, or friends ever went without her beautiful knitted slippers. Another thing she loved was being Catholic and attending mass. She brought her faith with her and lived it until the end. Throughout her life she was always concerned with everyone’s welfare and comfort. God's glory shown through her and her beautiful spirit. To our mother and grandmother, we will miss your love and compassion and your very very beautiful smile. We love you. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlcares.com
