Adam Joseph Schreiner

August 6, 1995 — October 3, 2022

Adam Schreiner, 27, of Bozeman, Montana, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a brave, beautiful soul with a pure heart who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Adam was born with the genetic disorder neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) which turned cancerous into a sarcoma called MPNST (malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors), a rare and aggressive cancer that is difficult to treat. Adam became a patient at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, at the age of five once his NF1 was confirmed, and he underwent cancer treatment there starting in April of this year following his diagnosis.

Adam was born on August 6, 1995, in St. Paul, MN, son of Steve and Deb Schreiner. He received his education in Woodbury, MN, and was a graduate of East Ridge High School Class of 2013. Adam is survived by his parents, Steve and Deb (Birkland) Schreiner of Bozeman, MT; sister, Amanda (Kai) Bouma, of North Liberty, IA; brother Alex (Mindy) Schreiner, of Salt Lake City, UT; grandmother, Jean Burdett, of Mesquite, NV; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alex Schreiner, of Laurel, MT, and Ted Birkland, of Peerless, MT; grandmother, Shirley Whitney, of Bonners Ferry, ID; and his pet Samoyeds, Akira and Aksel, of Woodbury, MN.

At the time of his cancer diagnosis, Adam was employed at Bequet Confections in Bozeman as a Production Associate; a job, company, and coworkers he truly enjoyed. He would eagerly and proudly share with everyone he met about his job making caramel. Prior to moving to Montana with his parents in July of 2020, Adam worked at Sam’s Club in Woodbury, MN.

Adam was an avid computer and online gamer.  When not gaming with friends or his siblings, he enjoyed fishing, watching Marvel movies, YouTube music and food videos, visiting craft breweries, and spending time with his family and his dog, Arty. There was never a dog or a cat that Adam met that he did not love, and they all readily returned that emotion. His best smiles always emerged when hugging or laying by a pet.

A Celebration of Adam’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. (MDT), Friday, October 21, at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service, 300 Highland Blvd, Bozeman, with Chaplain Michael Flannery officiating. A reception at Dahl’s will immediately follow the service where attendees can share memories and stories and enjoy some of Adam’s favorite food and drinks. Adam was a very casual person, so to honor his spirit, his Celebration of Life service will be casual dress. Adam’s immediate family will be wearing shirts from his favorite craft breweries or Marvel comics as a way of remembering some of Adam's most enjoyable activities. Feel free to join them.

Adam’s service will be streamed live and can be viewed at the following link <https://youtu.be/hZBnt_M5IQU>. The live stream will be recorded on the Dahl website in Adam's obituary to be viewed after the service has concluded. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlcares.com <http://www.dahlcares.com>.  In Adam’s memory, donations can be made to the Sarcoma Foundation of America at <https://www.curesarcoma.org/adam-schreiner/> to support soft tissue cancer research to find a cure for sarcomas like MPNST.  Please include Adam’s name with your donation.
