Louis B. Mccarl

September 10, 1934 — July 13, 2017

Louis passed away July 13, 2017 due to an accidental fall.

He was born September 10, 1934 to Louis and Bessie Siefert in Bozeman, Montana. When Louis was a young boy his dad passed away. His mother married Donald McCarl. His step-father adopted him and his older brother Russel, hence the name Louis McCarl.

Louis was so proud to be a Montana native. He was educated in this area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, served three years and was honorably discharged.

Most of his life he had a propensity to earn money. He worked hard and saved. Louis was employed in retail, which was his first retirement. He then went to work for the USPS which was his last retirement.

He saved enough money to give his parents the down payment for their home and to build his own.

Louis married. The union birthed a son, Louis Anthony McCarl. Eventually Louis raised his son with the help of his parents.

A highly intelligent individual, an avid reader, he would read anything. He enjoyed tinkering in wood working and his home. He liked to get out and hike and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

During his lifetime, he enjoyed his many dogs: his first was Schultz, then came Miss Muffet, McKee, Tommy, and Vino. Many a day you would see him walking his dogs in Centennial Park.

September 21, 1988, he married Sandy. They remained in the home he built as a young man.

Louis was instrumental in maintaining Centennial Park behind the Senior Center. He kept the trees and bushes well trimmed as well as cleaning up dog feces.

He set up his own version of pooper stations, keeping them filled with bags so dog owners could clean up after their pets.

Louis was indulgent in keeping Centennial Park a park for all to enjoy by making it a 'dedicated' park.

Louis was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father, brother Russell, a nephew Scott and sister-in-law June McCarl.

Survivors include his wife Sandy, son Louis of WA, nephews Don and Brock McCarl of CO, as well as others.

A private family service was held as requested by Louis.
