Dale O Bockness

March 13, 1945 — August 21, 2017

Dale O. Bockness, 72, of Gallatin Gateway, passed away peacefully in my brother, John’s, arms on August 21, 2017.

Dale was born in Stanley, North Dakota to Alice and Oscar Bockness on March 13, 1945. His family moved to Miles City, Montana in about 1960. He joined the Marine Corps in 1962 and married Vaughn Dee Lee Martin in 1963. They were the love of each other’s lives. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1964 and was a helicopter crew chief and gunner. After serving four years in the Marines, Dale and Vaughn moved back to Miles City. He graduated with honors and was put in the book of “Who’s who in American Colleges.” He worked at Pine Hills School for boys before he acquired his real estate brokers license and established Bold Realty, as well as Bockness Brothers Electrical Contracting.

Vaughn and Dale had six children in the span of 20 years, five boys and one girl. He moved his family and electrical business to Bozeman, Montana in 1988, where he and his sons established a large electrical business.

He was a strong, educated, determined, and hard-working husband and father. Dale is best known for his faith in God and his determination to never give up.

Dale is preceded in death by his mother Alice Olson, his father Oscar Bockness, his brothers Duwane Bockness, Terry Bockness, Gary Bockness; his daughter-in-law Kimberly Snow and his son Ty Bockness.

He is survived by his wife Vaughn Bockness, his sons and daughter Ray (Brandon, Kyaria, Brooklyn, Mike’al), Michael, John (Amy, Ashley, Alliah, Beau, Jarin, Joelon, Javon, Avenli, Arayah), Carrie (Jacob, Titan, Josephine), and Todd; and his brothers, Don Bockness, sister-in-law Kathy Bockness, Greg Bockness, Jeff Bockness, Scott Bockness, and his mother-in-law Betty Ayers, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
