Children

These charges will be determined by the size and merchandise needed for burial or cremation of the deceased child.  Other itemized charges may or may not apply.

               
Welfare Funeral or Cremation services

Gallatin County will pay for limited services and merchandise for residents who qualify.  Approval must be granted before services are arranged.

               
Basic Professional Services and use of Facility

Our basic service charge includes, but is not limited to, staff to respond to initial request for service; arrangement conference with family or responsible party; preparation and filing of necessary certificates and  permits; placement of obituary notices; planning of funeral arrangements; and coordination of services with cemetery and others as required.

Also included in this charge are overhead expenses related to our facility such as insurance, maintenance and utility expenses and  administrative costs, and equipment and inventory expenses.

This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select.
Embalming

Except in certain cases embalming is not required by law.  Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing.  If you do not want embalming,, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not  require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial. 
According to 37.116.103 Administrative Rules of Montana, a body “enroute more than 48 hours of if the termination of common carrier transport occurs more than 36 hours after the time of death, the body must either embalmed or refrigerated at 35°F or colder,” or “when being transported by a private conveyer and the body will not reach its destination within 48 hours after the time of death, must be either embalmed or refrigerated  at 35°F or colder.”

Payment Information

Payment for Merchandise and  Professional Services is due prior to services being rendered. 

Payment for Cash Advance Items such as  Cemetery Charges, Newspaper Notices, Death Certificates, Honorariums, Etc., are due at the time of  arrangements. (If cash advances are paid with a credit card %5 percent will be added to the total cash advances)

We accept : Cash, Personal Checks, Visa and Master Card, and Insurance Assignment in the amount of the Funeral  Expense. ($150 charge for processing of an insurance assignment)
